Gloria Victis Classes & Builds (Classless System)

It's classless — here are the starter templates and the best beginner build.

Gloria Victis is classless — you build a character freely by earning weapon and gathering skills and spending attribute points (Strength, Constitution, Dexterity). The character-creation screen suggests a starting template from a few questions, but nothing is locked: you can branch into other weapons and crafts as you go.

Footman (Sword & Shield)

1H sword + shieldStrength / ConstitutionBest for: Beginners

The forgiving frontline starter: a shield blocks a wide area, and you survive mistakes while you learn directional combat. 1H swords apply bleed. The safest first character.

Spearman

Spear / short spearStrength / ConstitutionBest for: PvP & sieges

Reach, armor penetration, and the king of siege fights — poke from behind the front line and you punch above your gear. A community favorite for value-per-level.

Two-Hander

2H sword / axe / maulStrengthBest for: PvE leveling & burst

Big charged hits clear PvE fast and threaten huge burst in PvP — but no shield means you live and die by your timing and footwork. High skill ceiling.

Archer

BowDexterityBest for: Ranged / support

Manual-aim projectiles — high skill expression, strong in sieges and from walls, weak when caught in the open. Pair with a melee sidearm for when they close the gap.

Simple stat rule of thumb

New players: go Footman (sword & shield) with Strength/Constitution to survive while you learn, or Spearman for the best PvP value. Weapon and craft skills are additive, so you can widen into new lines later (see how builds develop).
