Gloria Victis Loot & Death: Is It Full Loot?
Partial loot, the Loot Zone, and exactly what you risk when you die.
Coming from full-loot games, the first thing you want to know is: what do I actually lose when I die? Good news — Gloria Victis is partial loot, not full loot.
- PvP loot only happens inside the central Loot Zone — roughly the contested middle of the map. The large majority of the world is non-loot, so you choose when to take the risk.
- Even in the Loot Zone it is partial loot, not full loot: looting a corpse is time-limited and points-based, and the most a single looter can take is about one piece of equipment plus a stack of materials/consumables.
- You cannot lose money/gold, your mount, contribution/glory points, or cosmetic skins to looters.
- Deal ~70% of the damage to a kill and you get a few seconds of loot priority before the body opens to everyone.
- Dying applies a durability penalty to your gear (it degrades and needs repair) — that, not full-loot, is the main death sting once you're out of the safe zone.
Exact loot percentages, zone layout and durability numbers are version-sensitive and were tuned across patches — always sanity-check against the live patch notes after a big update. MMOs.com: looting & updates ↗
Practical rule: bank your gold and spare gear in the capital depot (those can't be looted anyway for gold), carry only what you're willing to risk into the Loot Zone, and remember a kill costs you gear durability even when nothing is looted — so repairs are a real, ongoing cost.
