What Happens When You Are Killed by Another Player or NPC in Gloria Victis?

Learn about the consequences of dying in Gloria Victis, including loot mechanics and gear durability.

Partial Loot Mechanics

When you are killed by another player or NPC in Gloria Victis, the game employs a partial loot system. This means that the looter can take about one piece of your equipment along with some materials or consumables, but they cannot loot your gold, mount, contribution points, or cosmetic skins. This system is designed to mitigate the harshness of death while still allowing for some risk and reward in PvP encounters.

Durability Penalty

In addition to losing a piece of equipment, dying incurs a durability penalty on your gear. This means that your equipment will degrade and may require repairs after being used in combat. This durability loss is the main consequence of dying outside of the loot mechanics, as it can affect your overall performance in future encounters.

Loot Priority

If you deal approximately 70% of the damage to an enemy before they are killed, you gain a few seconds of loot priority on their body. This allows you to loot them before others can access the corpse, giving you a better chance to secure valuable items.

Safe Zones and Risk Areas

It's important to note that these loot mechanics only apply within the central Loot Zone of the map, which is the contested area where PvP is more common. Outside of this zone, the majority of the world is non-loot, allowing players to explore and engage in activities without the risk of losing gear.
